Evelyn: Six Months

Has it really been six months already? I almost don't believe it.

Evelyn is growing and learning so much daily, it's hard to keep up with all the new things she can do!

She eats two meals of solid foods a day - lunch and dinner.

She can easily sit up unsupported and has recently figured out how to go from sitting up to laying on her tummy without nose diving and smashing her face into the floor.

She has gotten really good at scooting/army crawling. She is way fast! When she sees something she wants, she will cross the entire room in seconds to get to it.

Just recently she started scooting forward on her bum while she is sitting up!

She gets up on her hands and knees regularly and rocks back and forth, but hasn't quite figured out how to coordinate her arms and legs to move herself forward. UPDATE: today she crawled. For real.

She can pull herself up to stand while she is holding onto my hands or onto something stable like her toy box or the exersaucer (I have to put her next to the item and put her hands where they need to be, but she does the rest). The other night she was standing, holding onto her toy box, and she let go with one hand and pulled out a toy and started playing with it while still standing up. UPDATE: While we were at the doctor's office this afternoon she was sitting on the floor and grabbed my pants and pulled herself up to stand WITHOUT ANY HELP!! Gah.

She has a sippy cup now, and she loves to drink water! She doesn't ever drink very much, but she is the happiest kid in the world whenever I give it to her.

We have figured out that she likes to watch TV. The other day she sat and watched Dinosaur Train on PBS Kids for about ten minutes before she lost interest and started playing with her toys.

She has figured out how to open the door of the entertainment center where the DVDs are.

She still adores bath time, and gets so excited whenever she hears the water running.

She is now wearing size three diapers and is wearing 6 & 6-9 month clothes. Although most of her pants are too short.

We went to the doctor today for her 6 month check up! The doctor was really impressed with her. It seems like he always comments on how strong she is. He was really surprised when I told him that Evelyn is starting to get the hang of crawling and that she has been sitting up unsupported for quite a while. His exact words were "developmentally, she is off the charts!"

She had to get three shots today, and she did great. She only cried until I picked her up and then she stopped immediately. The good thing is that she doesn't have to get any more shots until her 12 month check up!
