Evelyn: Ten Months

Evelyn can now stand up all by herself really well, and prefers walking to crawling.

She likes to bounce to music! (see video below)

She is really in to making messes. She likes to pull the clothes out of her dresser, dishes out of the cupboards, and newspaper out of the newspaper box.

She still has about 0% stranger danger. She loves people!

She is learning the art of tantrum throwing. It hasn't escalated to throwing herself on the floor and screaming yet, but she definitely fake cries/whines when she isn't getting her way. Mostly this is when I take something away from her that she shouldn't have, or when I don't share my food with her.

That being said, she is a total mooch! She loves to eat whatever we are eating.

I am trying to teach her a little sign language. I haven't had much success yet though. The signs I am working on the most right now are "more," "all done," (she totally understands this one) "please," and "thank you."

She loves to play chase. I will crawl around after her saying "I'm gonna get you!" and she squeals and giggles as she practically runs across the room.

She has started to climb things. It's kind of scary.

I've been meaning to put this on here for a while, but I keep forgetting: she loves the vacuum! She gets so excited when I pull it out. It makes her jump every time I turn it on, but then she follows me around and gets in the way wherever I am vacuuming because she wants to play with it!

I have a piano app on my phone and she loves to play it.

She still loves her books, and has loved one to death. :( Oh and she took a bite out of one of her cardboard books at church last week! :0

She talks a LOT. Pretty much all day she jibber jabbers. I wish I knew what she was saying!

She is a total ham. She likes to show off. :)

I've been putting medicine that her doctor gave us on her hemangioma on her forehead, and it is working! It's getting less and less red and more skin color every day.

Today was my last day of work, so for the next few months I get to stay home with her all day! I'm so excited!

Evelyn: Nine Months!

Evelyn is nine months!

This post is a little late because I wanted to wait until I had the stats from her nine month check up.

Height: 28 in ~ 59th percentile
Weight: 17 lbs 14 oz ~ 27th percentile
Head: 17 in ~31st percentile

When we go to her checkups, the doctor gives me a sheet with info about what she should be eating, milestones she should be hitting, etc. I looked at the one that we got at her last appointment and just had to laugh a little. It says that she should be able to sit without help, crawl, and standing when holding onto something, that she should play peek-a-boo, understand no, start making consonant sounds, and move things smoothly from one hand to the other. It just made me laugh because Evelyn has been doing all of that and way more for months! I have a friend at work who was worried that her six month old daughter isn't crawling yet, but when I told her what this paper said she felt a lot better about things. I guess she only had what I tell her about Evelyn's progress to compare to.

She is a little underweight, but my guess for the reason for that is she is so dang mobile. She is walking like a pro, and practically running! She loves to walk. Quite often she will just walk around in circles talking to herself with a very pleased look on her face. She can stand up by herself, but she doesn't do it very often. Most of the time she will crawl over to the nearest object, piece of furniture, wall, etc. and pull herself up and then take off walking. Sometimes she does this funny little thing where she will stick out one arm behind her as she walks. It makes me laugh every time she does it!

Her personality comes out more and more each day. She is a total ham!

She growls, and sounds like a little bear cub. I've started calling her "little bear" or "baby bear" every now and then.

I gave her her first "haircut." She was getting quite the mullet, so I just put the #1 guard on our clippers and gave her a buzz. Now her hair is mostly all the same length. The stuff on top is still shorter than the rest though.

I guess around nine months or so is when babies usually develop "stranger danger," but Evelyn will let pretty much anyone hold her. Our babysitter moved at the end of April, and I was worried that she would have a rough time going to a new sitter. But she has loved Marie and her two little girls since the moment we walked in the door. She nearly dives into Marie's arms the moment we get in the door.

She still just has her two bottom teeth.

She is wearing size three diapers.

She is wearing 9-12 month clothes.

She absolutely loves books! I had to put her books where she can't get into them all the time, because some of them are already getting loved to death. When I do pull them out for her, she will be entertained for at least half an hour.

We sure do love our little bug!
